Pamela Nelson

Pamela Nelson is a Dallas-based artist, working in painting, mixed media, and installation. She received her BFA in 1974 from Southern Methodist University and has exhibited in over 100 national venues, including the DMA, National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington DC, and the National Arts Club in NYC. Public artworks include four DART light rail stations, a terrazzo floor medallion at DFW Airport, and Color Equations at NorthPark Center. Pamela served for ten years as Vice Chair of the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts in Washington DC, among other boards, and she is currently on the Board of the College of Art and Design at UNT and advisory board for Fairmont artist residency program. She was honored with the Legend Award in 2000 by Dallas Contemporary. Nelson’s work is in U.S. Embassies, the El Paso Museum of Art, the corporate collections at MTV, U.S. Trust, and the Bush Presidential Center, and the Met. The DMA houses her archives. Caroline Elbaor

Caroline Elbaor is a curator and writer. She is on the curatorial team at Dallas Contemporary, and her writing on contemporary art has appeared in various publications including ArtReview, BOMB Magazine, Flash Art Online, VICE, Curating the Contemporary, Young Artists in Conversation, and artnet News, among others. Recent and forthcoming curatorial projects highlight the practices of emerging artists working both locally and internationally, and have been staged in London, Germany, and the USA. Elbaor’s research interests include feminist and queer theories, investigations into various forms of labor, and exploring the methods in which art can address the rise of precarity in contemporary culture. She holds a BA in Art History from New York University and an MFA in Curating with Distinction from Goldsmiths, University of London.

Nancy Whitenack

Nancy Whitenack is the owner of Conduit Gallery, a Dallas gallery which she opened in Deep Ellum in 1984. In 2002, she moved the gallery to the Dallas Design District. Since then most of the contemporary galleries in the city have followed, establishing a gallery district. In the 30+ years she has been in business, Whitenack has mentored and represented many artists, both with local and national prominence. The gallery has been the site of important installations and exhibitions involving video, painting, photography, ceramics and various other media. Whitenack was instrumental in starting CADD, The Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas. She is involved as a community activist, and has been involved with DIFFA, The Dallas Resource Center, Planned Parenthood and other causes. She has participated in the Dallas Art Fair 9 of its 10 years and is committed to supporting a thriving and exciting Arts community in Dallas.
