Explanation:
The focus of this workshop is to further the student’s approach to design, color, and content in watercolor.
Exciting demonstrations combined with class critique help the student grow. Students will bring their own photographic material of landscapes, flowers, figures, or buildings from which they will work. It would be better if you had the drawings finished on index paper or any kind of lightweight paper so you can see the image through your 140# watercolor paper.
Preliminary color and value studies will be used at the start of each project.
We will be using abstraction overlays onto a realistic or impressionist image and using both the abstract and the real image in the painting process. We will use the glazing wet-into-wet technique.
I call this exciting way of painting, X-ray Painting, also called FUGAL STRUCTURE. In these you can see the realistic image through the abstraction. This creates rhythm, structure and content in the painting. I will bring copies of photo examples of my work. You may want to visit my website: www.janejonesart.com, and look under Original Works, Abstracts for other examples.
E-mail me for a supply list.
