Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas presents
CADD BUS TOUR Saturday, June 1st 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm |
Art Collectors and Patrons are presented with a Rare Opportunity to experience a “Behind the Scenes” visit to two artists’ studios, an architect’s home, and two well-established CADD Galleries, Mary Tomás Gallery and Valley House Gallery & Sculpture Garden. CADD’s Bus Tour on Saturday, June 1st is from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. The tour begins promptly at 1:00 p.m. at Mary Tomás Gallery, 1110 Dragon Street, in the Dallas Design District where guests will view bold, impressive and grand works in B.I.G., a curated exhibition featuring works by gallery artists Masri, Roy Tamboli, Mary Tomás, Ellen Soffer, and Fred Villanueva. Highlights of the tour will be a visit to the award-winning art-space, ASH STUDIOS, run by artists and cultural organizers, Fred Villanueva and Darryl Ratcliff. The studio, located near Fair Park, focuses on the Social Practices of arts in the community and serves as an incubator of ideas for a diverse group of artists and creators. Guests will view a multiple artistic collaborative work in progress made possible by a TACA Grant. From Fair Park, the bus will head to East Dallas to visit a neighboring studio and home in Little Forest Hills. Bus tour participants will have the opportunity to see the sculpture and drawing studios of Michael O’Keefe. His figurative explorations were the subject of recent concurrent exhibitions at The Museum of Biblical Art and Valley House Gallery. Be the first to see the Parthenon Project, underway in his studio. Then, a walk across the street to tour the home of architect Bentley Tibbs to see his collection of art in a residence transformed by his Southern Modernism. Continue north to Valley House Gallery & Sculpture Garden where Jim Woodson’s exhibition, Time Enfolded, is on view. The High Desert of Abiquiu, around his New Mexico studio, near Georgia O’Keeffe’s Ghost Ranch, inspires Woodson’s paintings. After serving on the faculty at TCU for 38 years, Woodson retired in 2013 and was awarded Texas State Artist of the Year (2D). Cocktails and lite bites to be enjoyed in the Sculpture Garden before boarding the bus back to Mary Tomás Gallery. Bus tickets sell out fast, so you are encouraged to purchase tickets soon. Bus Tour proceeds go towards CADD FUND and other educational programs. For more information about this Bus Tour please contact Mary Tomás at mary@marytomasgallery.com.
