BonnyThe Encaustic Center proudly Announces a Beautiful New Encaustic Workshop: Lorraine Glessner’s COLOR, LIGHT & LAYERS Friday, October 21st, Saturday, October 22nd, and Sunday, October 23rd, 2022 10:00am to 4:00pm each day The cost of the workshop is $725 Many supplies included! Details below! |
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Designed for those with some encaustic painting experience, this workshop takes a deeper dive into progressive painting and mixed media encaustic techniques to include color mixing, transparency and opacity, blending and gradations and how to organize layers of color and visual information. Encaustic color mixing is a two-fold process that involves the mixing of color and the consideration of translucency/opacity–which when done correctly, can produce gorgeous paintings filled with translucency, vibrancy and light. We will focus intensely on this process as well as take a deep dive into alternative application techniques, layering, blending, gradations and comprehensive scraping and layer manipulation techniques. Learn how to use three different fusing tools (heat gun, torch and iron) to create various effects and well as to paint in an interesting combination of realism and abstraction. It is helpful, but not necessary to have had any previous experience with the encaustic medium to take this workshop. |
