ACRYLIC NIGHT on Jan. 4: Project – Pouring a Swipe

Project for Friday, January 4, 2019 with be Pouring using the Swipe method.

Sharon Giles will demonstrate how to mix paint for pouring and how to do the swiping method. The demo will start at 7pm.

Or you can work on your own project. We’re dedicating this night to acrylic paint. You can paint with it, do printmaking or gelli printing, pour it, create art journal pages etc. Your choice.

Special offer for newbies: For $10, the demonstrator will supply you with a small canvas and a ceramic tile to try the swiping technique on. Plus paint, etc. from her supplies to practice with. Please contact her at info@irvingart.org to reserve your supplies. Supplies for newbies are limited.

Our sessions are FREE but bring your own supplies. Irving Art Association sponsors the Open Art workshops.

Basic Supplies for pouring:
acrylic paint (any type)
small canvases, canvas boards, yupo paper or ceramic tiles to pour your painting on.
paper or plastic cups to mix paint in
paper towels and/or baby wipes
craft sticks to mix with

pouring medium (Floetrol or Liquitex Pouring Medium, etc.) Floetrol is sold at Home Depot or Lowe’s in the paint section. There are several other brands of pouring mediums sold online or at arts & crafts stores, including Decoart, Golden GAC 800, and Sargent, etc.

Optional: plastic gloves, pipettes, skewers, silicone or dimethicone for creating cells, water container, palette or paper plates, palette knife.

IMPORTANT! Please bring cardboard, boxes or pans for moving your wet paintings. Poured paintings usually take 1 – 3 days to dry.

Upcoming dates: February 1st, March 1st, April 5th, May 3rd. We’ll repeat ACRYLIC NIGHT on the first Friday night of each month from 7-9pm. Doors open at 6:30.
