FBCAA Meeting Sept. 17: Pastel with Acrylic wash demo/workshop with Janice Hamilton

Regular meetings of the Farmers Branch-Carrollton Art Association (FBCAA) are held on the 3rd Tuesday morning of the month August through May (except Dec.) Guests are welcome – demos are free; mini-workshops are $10. Location: Craft Room of Farmers Branch Senior Center, Valwood & Dennis Lane, Farmers Branch.

Guest Artist – Janice Hamilton – Pastel with Acrylic Wash

“Color and light are a constant joy to me and I strive to convey the subtleties that surround us”

Ms. Hamilton, who has a degree in education, has studied art with a number of nationally known artists since 1985. Both her pastels and oil paintings have garnered many awards. In 1993, Ms. Hamilton was included in the Artists of Texas, Volume IV, Fine Arts Catalogue. Her pastel painting,

“Turtle Creek” was included in the Dallas Museum of Arts’ Beaux Arts Auction in 1994. She was featured as one of the “master pastel artists of
the world” in the 2003 June-July issue of International Artists Magazine.
Her paintings are hanging in private collections, as well as, corporate offices.

Janice has taught workshops and given programs for numerous art organizations and has taught continuing education classes at Brookhaven and Richland Community Colleges. She is now teaching private classes.

Ms. Hamilton is past-president of both ACA and the Pastel Society of the Southwest and is a member of the Degas Pastel Society and the Oil Painters of America.

Supply List:

Canson or other pastel papers (White or colored)
Sanded Paper (optional)
Masking Tape
Foam core to attach paper Kneading Eraser
Paper towels
Good selection of pastels
(Medium box of NuPastels will work)
Table easel

I will supply still life set-up, if you prefer to do a landscape please bring your own photos.

The demo will be on sanded paper with a wash. If you are interested in using the sanded paper with a wash I will supply a 13×20 sheet of sanded paper and the acrylics, brushes and pallet paper necessary for an additional $10.00.
