Acceptance notification – Monday, October 9th
Art delivery between 10am and 5pm – Friday, October 20th or between 9am and 10:30 am Saturday, October 21st.
Art Install – Sunday, October 22nd beginning at 10:30 am.
Artist reception –Friday, October 27th from 6-9pm (Day of the Dead costumes encouraged!)
Exhibition on view – Monday, October 23rd to Saturday, November 4th
Exhibit takedown – Sunday, November 5th – pick up art between noon and 3pm.
CALL FOR ARTArt on Main is seeking entries for its Exposición de Arte Pequeño Día de Muertos | Day of the Dead Small Art Exhibition. The exhibition, curated by Art on Main owner and artist, Andrea Lamarsaude and artist and Communications Director at Northway Christian Church, Jacque Forsher, will feature original small art works.
THEME Pequeños Reflejos de Amor | Small Reflections of LoveDuring the annual Mexican celebration, Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) it is believed that the souls of the dead return to visit their living families. Día de Muertos is an opportunity to remember and celebrate the lives of departed loved ones. It is a celebration of life not death. As the festivities are full of vibrant colors, love, joy, reflection, and celebration, we ask that 9×12 in. or smaller artworks submitted for the call are as well.
BENEFITTING THE STEWPOTThis exhibition is benefitting The Stewpot Art Program, serving those experiencing and at-risk of homelessness in Dallas. The program provides a safe environment and outlet for individuals to express themselves through art. You can learn more at www.thestewpot.org. For any work that sells, Art on Main will be donating 10% of our 30% commission to The Stewpot.
If your piece sells and you would like to donate a portion of the proceeds to The Stewpot when you submit your work via the call for entry form please indicate what percent you would like to donate (1%, 5%. 10%, etc.) in the field indicated on the form. Please note, making a donation is completely voluntary. If you do not want to donate please indicate 0% in the field.
MEDIA9x12 in or smaller art in all media will be considered. Art must be framed, on gallery wrapped canvas, or hangable in some way (wired/ready to hang) or it will not be accepted. Artist should indicate on the back of the piece their name, the name of the piece and contact info.
If there are any special install instructions for a work, they must be included when submitting to this call for art.Artists are responsible for bringing accepted work to Art on Main Art between 10am and 5pm – Friday, October 20th or between 9am and 10:30 am Saturday, October 21st.Artists are responsible for picking up their work, Sunday, November 5th between noon and 3pm.
ELIGIBILITYArtists must reside in the City of Dallas, Dallas County or within the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Entries that do not meet this eligibility requirement will not be considered.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTSThere is no entry fee. All artwork must be for sale. Art on Main will retain 30% of any work sold during the exhibition. 10% of that will be donated to The Stewpot.
Only finished 9×12 in. or smaller artwork will be reviewed by the curators.All art must be submitted online only at https://form.jotform.com/231516434463150Please no emails, texts, or social media DMs for submitting your art.
Artists may submit a maximum of two works of art for the curator’s consideration.
ARTWORK PHOTOSPlease submit images that are saved as high-resolution files. Please submit an image of only the art, no background on the sides. Our submittal platform can accept files that are up to 5MB in size. Most smart phones have cameras that take high resolution images.
GALLERY AGREEMENT
The curators will make a final decision for the selection of entries for the show. They will review photographs of completed artwork only. The decision of the curators is final.
Unless otherwise communicated by the artist to the curator’s permission to use accepted entries for promotional and educational purposes is considered permitted.
DELIVERY, LIABILITY, AND INSURANCE
Any accepted artwork that is delivered after the scheduled drop off dates listed above will not be included in the exhibition.
Art on Main will not be responsible for damage, loss, or wear and tear of any work while in transit to be delivered. All reasonable care will be given to each work of art once it is received.
Unless otherwise communicated to an artist, Art on Main will provide insurance on most works of art. If a work is not accepted for insurance the artist will be notified. The artist can then choose to include her/his artwork in the show without insurance coverage. the artist will be asked to sign a waiver releasing Art on Main from any liability.
Art on Main will not be responsible for art that is damaged while in the Art on Main Gallery due to any malfunctioning hanging or installation hardware that were provided/installed by the artists.
As an additional safeguard, artists do have the option to purchase coverage separately from their own insurance providers.
ACCEPTANCE NOTIFICATION – Monday, October 9th at 4pmAcceptance notification will include the names of the selected artists and will be posted at 4pm at this link https://artonmaindallas.com/day-of-the-dead-call-for-art
Artists are responsible for reviewing this list. The curators will also notify artists who were accepted via the email that was included in their submittal.
